The company was initially named "Skater Fountain Pen Co., Ltd." and started with manufacturing fountain pens. The founder named it with the wish to create fountain pens that write as smoothly as a skater gliding on ice.
In 1974, the second president and current chairman, Ryoichi Konoike, renamed the company to "THE SKATER CO., LTD." and it continues to this day.

Our company officially began manufacturing lunch boxes in 1974 as Skater Co., Ltd.
Since then, for over 50 years, spanning the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, we have continued to create products while envisioning the joyful lunchtimes enjoyed by everyone from preschoolers to adults.

A fabless manufacturer is a manufacturer that does not have its own factory for manufacturing products. The term fabless means that the factory does not have a fab (fabrication facility). We plan products and develop drawings and designs in-house, but we do not have our own factory and outsource manufacturing to partner companies. This allows us to develop products that are not limited to materials, and we can develop and propose products that meet our customers' needs in a comprehensive manner.
